Umm… you can lose. And this again isn’t investment advice 😬.
However, there are so many more alternative investment platforms that are quite interesting. You can (re)read last week’s newsletter to get the why and some background - Alternative Investments Part I.
I can invest in WHAT?? 😲
Well nothing is crazier than paying $69M for digital art, or $100K+ for digital basketball moments, or $Ms for crypto punks… but there are a lot of ways to diversify from stocks, bonds, cash, crypto, etc. We’ll share some of other unique ways to invest (ahem, gamble) in alternative investment marketplaces.
Cards, Collectibles & Securities 🏈 🎴👟
The card market has been exploding! Just ask one of our editors who likes to buy Pokémon cards b/c millions of kids/adults/adult kids out there have free money (Editor’s note: I feel personally attacked). Whether it’s Pokémon🦑, baseball⚾, football🏈 or something else, the prices for cards has risen. eBay reports 4M cards sold in 2020. A newish craze sees people (see above) invest in packs and boxes to hit rare cards seeing an immediate 3-10x. See how with Pokémon here. People even pay to have other people open packs and cards on their behalf. It’s like some Christopher Nolan meta-plot we don’t fully comprehend.
Yet, a few platforms have popped up that allow card and collectible holders to post shares in their assets. Instead of buying cards or packs, you can buy shares (like stocks) in an asset of your choice. Additionally, if you own valuable cards you can hedge and sell shares to gain liquidity.

https://www.withotis.com/ ($15M in VC funding)
Don’t like cards… how about shoes👟, purses👜 or other collectibles?! Sure, of course it exists. The internet is pure abundance!
https://stockx.com/ (variety of goods) - settle a household debate: is it pronounced stock-x or stoxx?

Well, not actually gold. But other ways to test out your investment skills.
Wanna test out if you’re a good angel investor? No need to be accredited. Sites below allow you to invest in startups. No, really! Build your own ‘portfolio’, make some long-term asymmetric bets… be that tech investor everybody thinks they can be. Chris Sacca who??I almost invested in a soccer club in Austria… but the valuation was crazy)
Wait… there’s even more??
… Yes, young Padawan👌

SMB loans & Financing = withcadence.io, yieldstreet.com
Real Estate = cadre.com, fundrise.com, equitymultiple.com, diversifyfund.com
Farms = farmtogether.com, farmersonly.com — wait, wrong newsletter
There are even more than all of the above. Though it may be hard to grasp it all, if you’re enticed, just pick an asset class and give it a try. May we recommend Charizards and Yeezys?
Let us know if you’ve invested in any of these. We’d love to hear about your experiences.
